Udaipur is one of the most famous cities in the state of Rajasthan. It is located in the Mewar region of the state. The city is named after the king who founded it - Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559 and is known as the City of Lakes. Famous lakes of Udaipur are Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Lake Badi.
The city is rich in culture and heritage due to the long rule of the Rajputs, who built several palaces like City Palace. A must visit is City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola, comprising of 11 palaces, courtyards and gardens, famed for its intricate peacock mosaics.
