Kufri is a small hill station of Himachal Pradesh state. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla. The name Kufri is derived from the word kufr meaning "lake". Kufri is the highest point in surrounding reason and has a Himalayan wild life zoo where rare antelopes, felines and birds including the state bird Himalayan monal can be found. Kufri is popular among trekkers and is the starting point of treks to Manali, Shimla, and others.
